The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Edo State Command on Wednesday witnessed a historic transition of leadership with the official handover of authority to commandant Agun Gbenga in a change of command ceremony held at the State Command Headquarters, in Benin city, Edo State.
The ceremony was attended by principal management staff, officers, and men of the Command, Commandant Matthew Uboyi reflecting in his success tenure expressed happiness in passing the mantle to Commandant Agun Gbenga.
He urged the officers and men to extend the same unwavering support to commandant Agn Gbenga that they offered during his term as the state commandant. He then formally presented the handover note to Commandant Agun Gbenga.
Commandant Agun Gbenga after taking over the mantle of leadership, thanked God for His mercy, he appreciated the Minister of interior, Mr Tunji-ojo and the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi.
He acknowledged the legacy of his predecessor and underscored his dedication to building upon the established foundation, addressing the principal management staff officers, Commandant Agun Gbenga called for unity, discipline and punctuality, he also emphasized the importance of teamwork and collaboration, so that mandate of the corps can be achieved.
Commandant Agun Gbenga warned officers against absenteeism from their duty post that officers found guilty will face the penalty.
Commandant Agun Gbenga a native of Ekiti, holds B.Sc. in geography and Masters in geographical information system. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role, having risen through the ranks since his enlistment, he holds a distinguished career marked by leadership position within the NSCDC. His proven track record and commitment to security operations bode well for the future of the Edo state command.
The climax of the ceremony was the symbolic handover of the flag of authority, marking the transition of leadership and reaffirming the corps’ commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens of Edo state.
