Kogi NSCDC Parades 3 Suspects for Alleged Criminal Conspiracy and Vandalism

The Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, on Wednesday paraded three suspects accused of criminal conspiracy and vandalism.

At a press briefing held at the NSCDC Command headquarters in Lokoja, Kogi State Commandant, Esther Akinlade revealed that the crimes took place on 7th and 20th October 2024, in Ankpa and Isanlu, located in Yagba East Local Government Area, respectively.

Akinlade pointed out that the suspects were apprehended as a result of collaborative efforts between security personnel and officers of the NSCDC.

One of the suspects, 33-year-old Agbo Christian from Enugu State, along with accomplices who are still at large, allegedly vandalized armoured cables at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) premises in Ankpa.

According to the Commandant, “Agbo was apprehended by a security guard during a second operation on October 18, 2024, while other suspects managed to escape.

Items used in the vandalism, such as a saw, chisel, and spanner, were recovered from him, and he confessed to the crime.”

On October 20, 2024, at around 9:00 AM, two additional suspects—29-year-old James Nifemi and 37-year-old Ibrahim Jafaru—were arrested by NSCDC officers, with support from members of the local community in Ofin, Isanlu. The suspects were found with armoured cable stolen from a community transformer.

During questioning, the suspects admitted to their involvement in the crime, while the third member of the group remains at large.

Commandant Akinlade confirmed that the three suspects will soon be brought to court.

She urged local residents to continue collaborating with the NSCDC in the fight against crime in the state.

Speaking to newsmen, the suspects pleaded for mercy after confessing to the crime.
