The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested six suspected vandals and motorcycle thieves in the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SC Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed the arrests in a statement released on Thursday.

According to Abdullahi, the arrests took place in different areas of Kano.
He stated that three suspects were apprehended at Na’ibawa Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area, after allegedly vandalizing and stealing multi-million-naira armored cables.
The suspects, identified as Lawan Ahmed of Unguwa Uku Quarters, Ahmad Yusuf of Kawo Quarters in Nassarawa Local Government Area, and Mujahid Kabiru of Kofar Waika in Gwale Local Government Area, were caught in Na’ibawa.
“The command has since launched an investigation into the case to make further arrests of individuals linked to the syndicate,” Abdullahi stated.
In a separate incident, the NSCDC arrested three suspects linked to motorcycle thefts across Kano. Two of the suspects, Abdulrazaq Umar, 30, of Sharada Ja’en, and Aminu Shehu Muhammad, 42, of Janbulo Quarters in Gwale Local Government Area, were allegedly part of a group specialized in stealing motorbikes in Kano’s metropolitan area. They were detained on Unity Road, Kano, while attempting to unlock a motorcycle at a plaza.
“Two of the suspects, Abdulrazaq Umar, 30, a resident of Sharada Ja’en, and Aminu Shehu Muhammad, 42, of Janbulo Quarters, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State, are part of a syndicate that specialises in stealing motorbikes in the metropolis. The suspects were picked up at Unity Road, Kano while attempting to unlock a parked motorcycle at a nearby plaza,” Abdullahi said.
The third suspect, Musa Ibrahim, 30, was arrested at Kwanar Gafan in Garun Malam Local Government Area.
The NSCDC spokesperson said all six suspects are currently in the custody of the command’s investigations department.
“The suspect disassembled the bike’s key and stole it at Kwanar Garko, Garko Local Government Area of Kano, before his eventual arrest by NSCDC operatives.”
“The six suspected criminals are now in the custody of the corps’ investigation department, and upon completion of investigations, they will all be charged in court,” Abdullahi said.
The NSCDC said that it remains committed to its mandate of safeguarding public assets and ensuring the security of residents across Kano State.
