REMAIN PROACTIVE IN DISCHARGE OF YOUR DUTIES, MAINTAIN THE CORE VALUES OF THE NIGERIAN ARMY – MAJ GEN AG MAHMUDA CHARGES TROOPS

The Commandant Warrant Officers Academy (WOA) Major General Auwalu Mahmuda has charged troops to always remain proactive in the discharge of their duties. He made this assertion while speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the 2024 Joint West African Social Activities (WASA) of all Nigerian Army Schools and Unit within Zaria which held on Saturday 11 January 2025 at the Regimental Sergent Major Hama Kim Parade Ground Depot Nigerian Army Zaria.

Major General AG Mahmuda further implored the the troops of the participating Schools and Unit which comprises of Depot Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Army Schools of Military Police, Army School of Physical Training, Nigerian Military School, the Nigerian Army Schools of Legal Services and 11 Field Engineers Regiment to maintain the Core Values of the Nigerian Army which includes loyalty, selfless service, courage, discipline, integrity and respect for others at all time.

Major General Auwalu Mahmuda commended and fecilitated with the Commandants and Commanding Officer especially the Commandant Depot Nigerian Army Major General Muhammed Aminu Abdullahi, Staff Officers, Soldiers and their families of all participating Schools and Unit within Zaria on their relentless efforts, hard work and dedication. He further stated that the 2024 Joint WASA has lived up to it’s expectation of creating a relaxed atmosphere for the Officers, Soldiers and their families to interact and socialize while being entertained with the diverse cultural displays of different ethnicities of our great nation in the spirit of fostering unity.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commandant Depot Nigerian Army Major General Muhammed Aminu Abdullahi on behalf of the Commandants and Commanding Officer of participating Schools and Unit welcomed all to the 2024 Joint WASA. He further stated that WASA is an age-long and time honoured tradition which dates back to the period of West African Frontier Force during the Colonial era. “It is a ceremony meant to bring personnel and their families together in the spirit of comradeship while displaying the best of our cultural practices”.

Major General MA Abdullahi further reminded the personnel as they celebrate to honour the sacrifices of our fallen heroes who have defended our nation’s unity and sovereignty. He further stated that in the year 2025, the NA schools and Unit within Zaria will redouble their efforts and be guided in line with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede which is “To Consolidate the Transformation of the Nigerian Army Towards Bequeathing a Well-Motivated and Combat-Ready Force that can effectively discharge it’s Constitutional Responsibilities in a Joint and Multi-Agency Environment”.

The well attended event featured colourful and exciting displays, Tug of War and Inspection of Local Cuisines. The highpoint of the event was the presentation of awards to deserving personnel and beating of the Retreat which symbolically marked the end of the event.
