The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ebonyi State Command, Nnadi Francis Chika has appealed to the State Commissioner of Police, Anthonia Uche-Anya to lend a helping hand towards ensuring ethical practices by officers and men of both formations.
Commandant Nnadi made this remark at the State Command headquarters, Abakaliki during a courtesy visit.
He averred that the two agencies play complementary role in maintaining peace and order in the society. ” We come to complement each other. Whenever you find my men doing the wrong thing, please call me. I will do the same to you if I find a defaulting police officer, he said.”
The Commandant who said he was not in the command to solicit for synergy since that cordial relationship has been in existence for long, observed that attention should rather be channeled towards curbing inter agency rivalry among the rank and file.
He also pledged to uphold the solidarity of NSCDC with the police particularly in area of intelligence -based information sharing.
Responding, CP Uche-Anya thanked the State Commandant for the visit, noting that they were all children of the same father on a single mission of making Ebonyi safer and more secure for all.
She stressed that the Inspector-General of Police has been emphasizing the need for fraternal synergy among security agencies. She asserted that rivalry ought not to be noticeable among them.
She therefore suggested a joint sporting activities among security personnel to further cement their mutual cooperation.
The CP assured Commandant Nnadi of any level of assistance needed to succeed in his task in the state.
In a similar vein, the cantonment Commander of Nkwagu Military Cantonment Lt Col AA Bako had equally extended a hand of fellowship in the area of joint sporting activities to NSCDC.
That was also during a courtesy visit to him by Commandant Nnadi.
He had recalled a mutual cooperation he enjoyed with previous commandants and expressed unwavering support to the new helsman to succeed in Ebonyi.
The Commandant had during the occasion requested for the support of the army towards arms bearing and other refresher training activities to sharpen the skills of NSCDC personnel.
