FG TAKES ACTION TO LOWER FUEL PRICES AS MARKETERS SET TO MEET DSS

The Federal Government is making moves to bring down the soaring fuel prices, offering much-needed relief to Nigerians struggling with the high cost of petrol.

Independent oil marketers have confirmed that they will meet with the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, to discuss the pricing and availability of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol).

Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi Shettima, President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), shared this development in an interview with Daily Post.

“We have a meeting with the DSS on Wednesday. It’s primarily about the petrol pump price. Whenever IPMAN is involved, it’s usually related to petrol issues and ensuring availability for our members,” Shettima explained.

However, he added that further details of the meeting remain uncertain. “Until we attend, I can’t give specifics. I’ll provide more information afterward,” he stated.

Nigerians continue to endure the burden of skyrocketing fuel costs, with prices ranging from N950 to N1,200 per liter, despite the recent commencement of fuel production at the Dangote refinery, which boasts a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.
