NSCDC Last Quarterly CG’S Conference: CG Audi Harps On Protection Of National Assets Lives, Properties

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has held its last quarterly Commandant General’s Conference for the year 2023 at the National Headquarters, emphasising the need to step up protection of national assets, lives and properties.

The Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi in his keynote address to participants comprising Deputy Commandants General, Assistant Commandants General and State Commandants said that the conference was coming at a time when every parastatal and agency of government have been charged to key into President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Subsequently, he stated that the security of lives and property of Nigeria and Nigerians is non-negotiable, noting that the Corps’ mandate of Protection of critical national assets and Infrastructure will be critically analysed at the conference and new strategies adopted.

The Commandant General affirmed that within the last quarter, the Corps through the Honourable Minister of Interior Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo had promoted more than 20,000 personnel of the Corps which indicates that the promises made at the commencement of his administration are gradually being fulfilled.

All the promises made are conspicuously and laudably put in place, we promised an all-formidable Female Squad for gender mainstreaming and also to provide safety and security to school children. I am glad to inform you that two weeks ago, the Female Squad and National Safe Schools Response Coordination Centre (NSSRCC) Squad thwarted the kidnap of 10 students of the Federal University Dutsinma, the CG explained.

The NSCDC helmsman disclosed that the Corps has arrested over 200 suspects and secured the conviction of no fewer than 100 of them, adding that more than 100 illegal refineries have been destroyed across the nation.

Recall that the CG’s conference was introduced two years ago, for performance evaluation, appraisal, identify gaps and challenges and marshall out new strategies and chart a way forward on the challenges raised from the discussions.

Another high point of the event was Oath taking and swearing-in of three newly decorated Deputy Commandants General.

The DCGs include Shem Sunday Obafaiye, Adeyinka Fasiu and Raji Ibrahim whose Oath of Allegience was administered by Officer in Charge of Legal Unit, Deputy Commandant of Corps Bamiyo F. Akomolafe.
