By Ibrahim Olomu
Nigeria, a nation rich in diversity and resilience, has faced the scourge of terrorism, posing a threat to the safety and security of its people.

In the face of this challenge, there is a growing need for unity and support for our military as they stand at the frontlines in the fight against terrorism.

The recent but unfortunate and regrettable error of a mistaken attack in Tudun Biri community in Kaduna state, by an Army drone, has understandably generated controversy with a backlash on the country’s military.

The Military hierarchy, led by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Christopher Musa, was prompt and firm in its response to that unfortunate incident.

Apart from commissioning a high powered investigation into the incident, Gen Musa commiserated with victims of the attack and promised to avert future occurrences.

The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has also given the Military a vote of confidence on the Matter

While it’s understandable that the unfortunate incident is evoking emotions from citizens, care must be taken to prevent a complete breakdown of morale of the officers and men who are daily on the frontlines on various theatres of war in defence of their fatherland.

The men and women of the Nigerian military have demonstrated unwavering bravery and dedication in combating terrorism, often in the harshest and most challenging conditions.

Prof Okey Okechukwu, Executive Director, Executive Specs Academi, believes the sacrifices and commitment of officers and men of the Armed Forces deserve the full support of every Nigerian citizen.

Our military needs our support, whether it’s through providing valuable information, expressing gratitude for their service, or advocating for increased resources and better equipment.

Every Nigerian has a role to play in supporting our military.

By remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activities, we can contribute to the prevention of potential attacks and the dismantling of terrorist networks.

Salmon Salami, Executive Director, Justice Pen Alliance, a Civil Society group, insists nothing should be done to affect the morale of the military at this crucial time. Mr Salami, who has been leading a campaign in the online media on the need to encourage the military, insists it’s the way to go

Advocating increased resources and better equipment for our military is vital.

Their effectiveness in combating terrorism is directly linked to the resources and support they receive from the government and the people they serve.

In unity, there is strength. As Nigerians, it’s imperative that we come together to support our military in their fight against terrorism.

Our collective efforts can make a significant difference in safeguarding our nation and ensuring a safer, more secure future for generations to come.

Together, let’s stand as one and support our military in their noble mission to protect our beloved Nigeria.
