The Edo State Command of the Nigeria security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has deployed 300 of its operatives with operational vehicles and other resources to beef up security in tomorrow’s governorship election in Bayelsa State.
The helmsman of the Edo NSCDC, Commandant Uboyi Matthew, while briefing the deployed officers and men to Bayelsa char the Commandant Matthew implored them to conduct themselves properly before, during and after the election.
According to a statement signed and made available to People’s Security Monitor by Ogbebor Efosa, the Command’s Spokesman. ”I must warn all of you ahead of time not to be involved with political actors in anything that could be inimical to rules and regulations of the electoral process, or else anyone caught perpetrating any form of compromise shall be severely dealt with according to the law.
I therefore expect all of you to conduct yourselves within the framework of the code of conduct and rules of engagement for security personnel on election duty. You are to exhibit a high sense of integrity and also respect the rights of citizens during the exercise. As you all aware, this is a national assignment, and that explains the fact, you must be ethically compliant, and at the same time be firm, without necessarily trampling on citizens’ rights in the course discharging your duties and responsibilities to the nation.” Commandant Matthew said.
