The newly deployed Osun State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command , CC Igbalawole Sotiyo paid a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 11, Command Headquarters, AIG Patrick Ogong Edung .
Commandant Igbalawole Sotiyo paid the visit on Wednesday, 6th November , 2024 with the aim of addressing the recent assault on NSCDC personnel by the Nigeria Police officers in Osun State.
The Osun NSCDC boss, expressed his displeasure, over the incident, emphasizing that public servants are guided by the Public Service Rules (PSR), which does not condone physical brutality. He stressed that when conflicts arise, higher authorities should be able to step in to resolve the issue, for the sake of peace
In his response, the AIG in charge of Zone 11, Patrick Ogong Edung appreciated the NSCDC for the visit, he acknowledged the importance of Inter-Agenccy collaboration, noting that no single security agency can tackle security challenges in the country alone.
The AIG noted that inter-service rivalry predominantly occurs at the rank-and-file level, whereas senior officers demonstrate strong cooperation and synergy. He encouraged all agencies to foster a culture of collaboration, leveraging inter-agency partnership to enhance national security.
AIG Edung condemned the altercation between the agencies, describing it as a “public disgrace, he assured that an impartial investigation would be conducted, as directed by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
