NSCDC Assigns Private Guard Companies To Collect Information

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Cross River, has commissioned the Nigerian Association of Licensed Private Security Professionals with the timely collection of information.

Mr. Samuel Fadeyi, Commander of NSCDC in Calabar, made the charge on Friday in Calabar during a stakeholder meeting with members of the association.

The theme of the meeting was “Private Guard Companies: The Way Forward To Combat Today’s Global Security Challenges Facing Our Country Nigeria”.

He said that private security companies had a role to play in combating security challenges by collecting and sending timely information to security agencies for prompt response and action.

The State Commander, however, asked the management of the private security guards in Cross River to analyze the issue of the welfare of their guards with a view to achieving a better result.

Mr. Ume John, Visiting Professor and Director of the Cross River Legal Aid Council, in delivering his lecture, underscored the need for everyone to step up to solve the country’s security challenges.

He called for a synergy between private guard companies and security agencies, adding that such collaboration would help address the myriad security challenges in the country.

A Deputy Commander of the Corps, Ms. Adegoke Folashade, who is the Department Head of the Private Guard Company, NSCDC, urged the private guards to do their best in policing their surroundings.

Mr. Eyo Ekanem, President of the Nigerian Association of Licensed Private Security Professionals, Cross River Chapter, stressed the need to have a strong and harmonized association with strong rules and regulations that are binding.

Ekanem denounced the attitude of most practitioners who do not attend meetings with security agencies, saying that collaboration was all they needed to function optimally.
