Katsina State donates N3m to family of DPO killed by bandits

Katsina State Government has donated N3 million to the family of slain DSP Abdulkadir Rano.

Rano, a Divisional Police Officer was killed alongside a soldier in an encounter with bandits at Magama, in Jibia Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday while repelling bandits’ attack.

Magama Jibia is one of the communities on the Nigerian/Nigerien border seriously affected by banditry.

Commissioner for Sports and Social Development, Alhaji Sani Danlami told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) about the donation on Saturday in Katsina.

The commissioner, who led the state’s government delegation to the family, described Rano’s death as a great loss to his family, to the state, and also to the Nigeria Police.

Danlami is also the chairman of the state’s committee on emergency relief.

“The state government under the leadership of Gov. Aminu Masari has seen the efforts, commitment and dedication of the slain DPO in trying to bring security challenges to an end in the area.

“He dedicated his life and worked wholeheartedly in the fight against bandits in the state, especially in Jibia, hence government found it necessary to visit the family and provide immediate support.

Also in the state government’s delegation were the Special Adviser to Gov. Masari on Security Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Katsina and other top government officials.
