LAGOS NSCDC ORGANIZES MAIDEN ONE-DAY TRAINING FOR AIRPORT PERSONNEL

Keshinro vows to protect critical national assets and infrastructure in Lagos state, commends Aviation Security ( AVSEC ) for lauding the Corps’ efforts on access control, surveillance and patrol at the Airport.

Today, Thursday, 9th January, 2025, marks another fresh milestone, in the anals of history, of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, as it holds its maiden one ( 1 ) day training and retraining program, for personnel of the Corps deployed, to the Airports on various aspects of the security and protection of lives and the critical national assets and infrastructure specifically, as it relates to Airport security.

Recall that the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro has earlier visited, the Aviation Chief of Security, Aviation Security, Deputy General Manager Idokogi Anthony, to discuss matters relating to the unwavering security and protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure at the nation’s Airports, situated, in the state. Also this training was informed, by the collaborative efforts at display between the Aviation Security and the NSCDC, in view to ensure a proactive, uncompromising, stronger and firm delivery of the Corps’ mandates at the Airport.

The Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, in his keynote address at the training, held at the Command’s Headquarters, in Alahusa, Ikeja, today, Thursday, affirmed the Command’s unflinching resolve to ensure that the personnel deployed, to monitor, protect, and secure lives and critical national assets and infrastructure at the Airport, do their job assiduously and effectively in line with their statutory mandates. He vowed, to protect critical national assets and infrastructure in the state.

The one ( 1 ) day training program was divided into four ( 4 ) various lectures such as ;

(i) Overview of NSCDC’S Role in Airport Security delivered, by Deputy Commandant of Corps Agbetiloye Kolawole, Head of CNAI Department, (ii) Security Threats and Vulnerabilities in Airport delivered, by DGM Idokogi Anthony fsi, Aviation Chief Security ( ACOS ), Muritala Muhammed International Airport ( MMIA ) (iii) Emergency Response Procedures delivered, by DGM Fakunle Bilikisu ( Aerodrome Rescue Fire Fighting Service ), MMIA and (iv) Best Practices for Security Screening delivered, by DCC Shoyoye Olurotimi, Head of Investigation.

The Aviation Chief Security ( ACOS ), Aviation Security ( AVSEC ), Muritala Muhammed International Airport ( MMIA ), DGM Idokogi Anthony fsi also seized, the lecture to categorically, commend the personnel of the NSCDC, for their passionate and professional commitment towards responding to emergencies and averting incidences that would have led to serious accidents at the Airport. He mentioned, a recent one that the personnel of the Corps responded, to even when limited resources was made available to avert the evil.

The Commander, Airport Unit, Assistant Commandant of Corps Omideyi Ibrahim said that he will be one month today, as the newly posted, Commander to the formation and he has seized, the opportunity to interact with all the uniform and non – uniform services he met on ground. He further said that the collaboration was needed to further ensure the fulfilment of the Corps’ mandates of protecting critical national assets and infrastructure and the Airport is an all important one. He also appreciated, the Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro for giving him such a great opportunity to serve and more importantly, approving this maiden training that will further help to improve personnel capacity and confidence to deliver on their duties and functions at the Airport.
