Terrorists Abduct Former Customs Officer In Kwara

Gunmen suspected to be terrorists have abducted a retired custom boss, Mohammed Zarma, in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

Eye witness accounts said the incident happened at Egbejila, along Obate village, Asa local government, on Thursday.

The victim, who is a retired Deputy Comptroller of Nigeria Customs Service, was kidnapped inside his fish farm.

According to a distress statement by a resident of the local government, the attackers invaded the farm with dangerous weapons.

“They trekked to the farm and took the man away through the bush which links Ogele, Pampo and Arowosaye villages. We are, therefore, asking the security operatives to urgently round them up,” he said.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the development noting that efforts were on-going to rescue the victims.

“The Command has deployed relevant assets, both human and material for his rescue. He was kidnapped on his farm at Egbejila around 5:30 on Thursday by some unknown gunmen.”

The PPRO said “On the visit to the scene after the incident by the Command’s operatives, four empty shells of expended ammunition were recovered.’’h
