Bauchi NSCDC Nabs 10 Suspects For Vandalism, Rape, Theft

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Bauchi State Command, has apprehended 10 individuals for various crimes committed during the yuletide season.

Oloyede Oyerinde, the State Commandant, revealed this on Wednesday in Bauchi while parading the suspects.

He stated that the suspects were arrested for crimes including vandalism, rape, and theft. He further explained that seven of the suspects were apprehended on December 24 in Zaranda village, Toro Local Government Area, for vandalizing the old Nitel tower.

According to Oyerinde, items recovered from the suspects include six oxyacetylene gas cylinders, perimeter fencing wire mesh and a section of the vandalised tower.

He explained that two additional suspects were arrested on December 31 at a filling station in the Turum area of Bauchi metropolis for stealing two drums.

“The rape suspect was arrested on December 27 for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in an uncompleted building in Misau Local Government Area.”

The commandant praised his officers for their dedication to protecting public facilities and cautioned culprits to stop vandalism and other crimes or face the consequences.

Oyerinde encouraged the public to support the corps by sharing important information that could help combat vandalism and other crimes in the state.
