The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso has decorated 16 newly promoted senior officers with their new badges of rank on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at the 1 Division’s Auditorium Kawo, Kaduna.
The ceremony marked the elevation of two senior officers of the Division to the rank of Brigadier Generals, eight promoted to the rank of Colonels, and six to the rank of Lieutenant Colonels from various Units and Formations under the Division in Kaduna. The elevation and recognition was bestowed upon them for their outstanding performance, dedication and significant contributions to the Division and the Nigerian Army.
The newly promoted senior officers were Brig Gen AS Aliyu,
Brig Gen PAJ Ebuk, Col YI Rena, Col II Zubairu, Col RA Adeyanju, Col UA Mohammed, Col M Alkali, Col AB Sambo, Col Y Micah and Col IA Akabike. Others include Lt Col JN Ayuba, Lt Col HS Ahmed, Lt Col KO Bello, Lt Col OF Ndubuisi, Lt Col MY Wase and Lt Col AE Amangele
Major General Saraso congratulated the newly promoted senior officers, stating that their achievements marked a positive conclusion to the year 2024. He emphasized that “the journey in the Armed Forces is not measured by distance but by the quality of service” and highlighted the crucial roles of commanders in the success of the Nigerian Army.
Brigadier General MY Lawal who is the Commander 1 Division Equipment Support, advised the newly promoted senior officers to view their promotion as a divine gift and to prioritize continuous personal and professional development. He urged them to become agents of positive change and contribute to the advancement of the Nigerian Army.
In his vote of thanks on behalf of the newly promoted senior officers, Brigadier General Philip Ebuk expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General OO Oluyede for considering them as beneficiaries, and the GOC Major General MLD Saraso for his special recommendation. The event was concluded with an investiture ceremony, remarks from the GOC, and group photographs.
