LG ELECTIONS: COMMANDANT BASHAR STRATEGIZES WITH FIELD COMMANDERS, DIVISIONAL OFFICERS TO ENSURE HITCH-FREE ELECTIONS IN AKWA IBOM

Ahead of the October 5, 2024 LG elections in Akwa Ibom State, the NSCDC State Commandant, CC Bashar Kefas Hussaini has concluded a strategic meeting with field Commanders, Area Commanders and Divisional Officers with a charge to synergise with other security agencies to dominate the entire space and deliver a hitch-free LG elections.

The NSCDC boss on Thursday, 3rd, October, 2024 met with Heads of Operations, Special Duties, Agro-Rangers, Anti-vandal and Armed Squad Commander, as well as Intelligence to perfect strategies for a successful conduct of the elections. The team analysed available intelligence and reviewed the crime-map of the state, taking into cognisance peculiarities of crimes in coastal areas and border towns, while using scenario analysis to profer solutions and counter-measures.

Also, major flashpoints have been analysed and intelligent assets have been deployed, to be assisted by tactical squads from all security agencies in the State. Commandant Bashar warns hoodlums with criminal intent to have a rethink, as adequate measures have been put in place to neutralize threat to peace and safety in the state before, during and after the elections.

Commandant Bashar also met with Area Commanders and Divisional Officers and briefed them accordingly, charging them to discharge their duties professionally, ensure effective supervision of personnel deployed to their Local Government in accordance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Corps.

The State Commandant announced that the Corps has deployed 950 armed, unarmed and plain cloth operatives for the October 5 LG elections and set up a patrol teams and situation room for real time processing of intelligence and coordinating security response to troubled spots.

Comdt Bashar advised Akwa Ibomites and the electorates to go out and cast their votes for the candidates of their choice peacefully, noting that ‘election is not war’. He promised that the NSCDC and other security agencies will ensure that their is no compromise, as personnel have been briefed to act professionally, but ruthless to anyone who attempts to subvert the process.
