Ebonyi NSCDC PARADES 5 SUSPECTS

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Ebonyi State Command today paraded five suspects arrested in connection with vandalism, stealing and illicit drug peddling.

The State Commandant Dr Elijah Etim Willie while parading the suspects said they were variously arrested in different locations for the diverse offences.

According to him, one  Elum Toochukwu, a 27 year old male from Amana village in Ezza South L G A  was arrested inside the council headquarters while vandalizing electrical installation at the chairman’s lodge. “The suspect, with one other accomplice still at large were accused of repeatedly vandalizing the council property

Items recovered from them electric cable, two air conditioners, a standing fan, aluminum window panes and  glasses, a CCTV camera, cutter- plier, small pieces copper thunder protector cables as well as wooden ladder used for the operation.

Three other suspects: Lawrence Kelechi, 28 years old, Uchena Ogbaga, 27 and Nwigwe Chikwado, 23, all male conspired with one Nwaekuma still at large to steal four drilling rods, property of Afrmetal Trading Nigeria; valued at #720,000.

The suspects were arrested at a mining site  in Izzi Local Government Area by our tactical team, following a tip-off.

In the same vein, one Monday Awo, 44, was equally arrested by the command’s Rapid Response Squard at Nkaliki in possession of hard illicit drugs. His arrest followed a complaint by the market leadership that he was sabotaging the state government by refusing to pay the internally generated revenue. During arrest, it was discovered that he was actually dealing on narcotics and used provision shop as smokescreen.

He was arrested with Cannabis sativa known locally as Indian hemp worth about #200,000; about 41 packs of rizzler, and a few wraps of SK.

All the suspects made confessional statements admitting their culpability.

Commandant Willie said they will all be charged to court at the end of the investigation while the suspected drug peddler would be handed over to the Nigerian Drug law Enforcement Agency whose mandate it is to prosecute him.
