PEACE AND CONFLICT MANAGEMENT QUARTERLY WORKSHOP:  OGUN NSCDC PARTNERS HIIL FOR IMPROVED MEDIATION, SETTLEMENT AMONGST OTHERS

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command Headquarters, Abeokuta, under the leadership of her State Commandant, CC. David Idowu Ojelabi, partnered and hosted the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HILL) ably led by its Operational Officer, Maryam Abba and her colleagues: Ms. Ijeoma Nwafor, Country Representative, HIIL and Jonathan Agbo, Consultant at the State Command’s Conference Hall on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

Declaring the event open, Commandant Ojelabi charged the desk officers of the Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit across Ogun formations to see the workshop as an opportunity not only to increase their knowledge on ADR but to also improve and update their training on resolution of land and family matters in their respective domains using the windows of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in handling issues.

The Lecture which was delivered by Chief Superintendent of Corps Lawrence Olaleke Adesanya was splitted into five modules helping to drive home the various tracks in resolving conflict issues around land and family matters in the society.

The participants drawn from across the various formations in Ogun State Command also performed a playlet which was meant to drive home the various disputes relating to land and family matters and the various ways of resolving them through ADR and avoid violence amongst the warring parties.

Afterwards the participants and the HIIL crew took a group photograph to commemorate the event.
