Police rescue 20 kidnapped victims in Edo


A team of operatives of the Nigeria Police, military and vigilantes has rescued 20 kidnapped victims in Edo State.

DAILY POST gathered that armed men suspected to be kidnappers on March 18, 2024, abducted 41 passengers along Lampese-Ogorimagogo Road in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the incident, said the armed men accosted four Toyota Hiace buses and kidnapped the occupants into the bush.

Nwabuzor added that the police operatives, in collaboration with the military personnel and vigilantes, immediately moved to the scene, embarked on a vigorous bush combing exercise and rescued 20 passengers at once.

He said efforts are still ongoing to rescue 21 other passengers who are still in captivity.

The armed men, suspected to be herders, emerged from the bush and halted the four Toyota Hiace buses at gunpoint before kidnapping their occupants and moving them into the bush.
