Delta NSCDC Commandant, Suleiman Agboola Charges Personnel On Ethical Compliance

 

Delta Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Suleiman Agboola Jimoh has said that every arrest must henceforth be with the approval of the state commandant and all arrests leading to detention must be with a warrant insisting that any form of illegal arrests and detention especially at Area command and Division levels must stop.

Agboola said this at the Management Meeting for the month of March, of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Delta State Command, held on Monday, 11th of  March, 2024, at the State Command Headquarters in Asaba; had in attendance, all Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Heads of Departments and Heads of Units.

The State Commandant emphasized the need for properly documented handover and takeover of suspects and/or exhibits especially when it involves other Sister Security Agencies.

Every arrest must henceforth be with the approval of the state commandant and all arrests leading to detention must be with a warrant. Any form of illegal arrests and detention especially at Area command and Division levels must stop.

Officers were mandated to concentrate more on our core mandates and stop deviating into police duties.

Officers are expected to do more arrests on protection of critical national asset’s, illegal mining, anti-vandalism, safe school etc. 

All roadblocks should be dismantled but can conduct stop and search.

Officers and men should be patient and desist from lobbying for promotion; neither should Transfer and redeployment be seen as a witch-hunt.

Officers were informed that the use of camouflage has been suspended and no ammunition should be taken out of the command without Commandant’s approval. Officers are also to stop personalizing riffles or risk sanction.

Based on the recent program on Sexual, Gender-Based Violence which was conducted at the National Headquarters, Commandant Suleiman, warned officers to desist from all forms of gender related harassments and Intimidation. He  hinted that measures are already implemented to combat harassment and ensure the empowerment of female officers within the Corps and that efforts have been made to facilitate the appointment of more female officers to occupy leadership positions in the corps. This is demonstrating the commitment of the corps to promoting gender equality.

He further reiterated the directives issued by the Commandant General, emphasizing that all Officers must adhere to both ethical and legal standards.

Commandant Suleiman assured that the command will continue to ensure the security and protection of lives and properties of Deltans.
