The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Edo State Command, Gbenga Agun, has said he is in the state to chase out vandals and to declare war against vandalism of critical national assets.
The commandant who said this during a visit to the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II at his palace also added that he is in the state to secure the lives and property of citizens.
He said the command has declared a war against vandalism of critical national assets in the state.
The commandant, who was recently posted to the state command, said his visit was to seek a royal blessing and solicit the support of the palace.
He added that one of the cardinal mandates of the NSCDC is to protect critical national assets, assuring the Benin monarch of the Command’s commitment to its mandate.
Responding, Oba Ewuare prayed for the new NSCDC commandant and assured him of the palace’s support at all times.
“The door of the palace is open for any assistance that is within its reach”, the Oba promised.
