Operatives Of Jigawa NSCDC Apprehend Man Over Solar Panel Vandalization

The operatives of NSCDC Jigawa State Command have arrested one Adamu Ahmad (m), 21years, a carpenter in Lamido Primary School Birnin-Kudu Local Government Area on Friday, 23rd of February, 2024 for alleged vandalization and theft of ten  plates of ACOPower 100-Watt Polycrystalline Solar Panels meant for the supply of water to residents of Nasarawa and Tudun Wada quarters in Birnin-Kudu town. 

The suspect was arrested at about 1100hrs when he removes all the ten solar panels and kept it in an empty classroom of Lamido Primary, which he will then come back at night to pack them and sell it all at the scrap market.

The stolen Solar Panel belonging to the Birnin-Kudu Local Government waterboard in Jigawa State has a market value of about N585,000. He has confessed to have committed the crime and went further to reveal that he vandalized the Panels in the wee hours of Friday which is not his first time committing the crime. However, Inusa Washa and Babawo of Titin Tsamiya quarters of the same town who are accomplices to the crime are currently at large.

Meanwhile, the NSCDC State Commandant, Muhammad Danjuma, has strongly warned against vandalization of Government installations and Utilities as they are meant for the benefit of the general public and not for personal gain, and failure to refrain from the act will lead to arrest and prosecution as his officers are unrelenting. He also called on the general public to be vigilant and report any suspicious act of vandalisation as the installations are meant for their benefits.
