Wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs Mary-Maudline Nwifuru has expressed his readiness to partner Civil Defence Officers’ Wives in the State. She expressed her readiness to give the necessary support to their association’s objectives and carry them along in all her programmes.
She made this remark when she played host to executive members of Civil Defence Officers Wives Association, CDOWA, Ebonyi State chapter on Tuesday,
January 23, 2024 at the state government house, centenary city, Abakaliki.
In her words, “I’m delighted at the level of support and positive impact the officers of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps have exhibited, in terms of prevention and control of crimes in the state. More importantly, the unique position that wives of civil defense officers occupy in the society.
As their slogan says: “Peace at home, Peace in the nation, peace in the nation, peace at home”. One can easily say that, not only do they keep the home front intact, they also complement the efforts of their husbands in securing the nation and maintaining national peace.
She charged members of the association to continue in their support for the government and all its activities.
The Association, led by the chairperson and wife of the state Commandant, Dr Mrs Josephine Elijah Willie said they were at her office to rally support and align totally to her human saving modest project: Better Health for Rural Women, Children and internally Displaced Persons Foundation, BERWO
“You are a fighter who believes strongly in women attaching values to themselves thus their aspirations falling in place. We are not oblivious of your various giant strides. You have achieved within the shortest record time.”
She listed the achievement to include: promotion of women inclusion in governance. It is on record that 35%, if not more if appointees are women;
Her passion to revive the adult education in the state; her love for the sickle Cell champions; her clampdown on gender based violence; her bring ‘back our culture’ inclination; her support for indigent widows and orphans if the society and the recent releas if 53 inmates from Abakaliki Correctional Center with the aim of restoring them back to the society as better citizens.
The Association outlined modalities on establishing a Self Defence Academy where our children of primary and secondary school age will be taught simple basic self defence technique. She stressed that the idea was to complement the “safe School Initiative”
