The newly deployed Commandant of the Edo Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Agun Gbenga has inspected of Quarter Guards after taking over the mantle of leadership from his predecessor.
He then proceeded to the parade ground, where the chaplain and chief imam offered prayers for Edo state, NSCDC and the nation in general.
Commandant Agun Gbenga, in his address, thanked God for another great day, appreciated the Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and the Commandant General of the corps Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi for the promotion of over 21, 000 officers of the Corps and prayed that those who have not gotten promotion will get in the fourth coming promotion exams.
Commandant charged the officers and men of the command to be disciplined, punctual, and to be proactive in the discharge of their duties, warning that his administration will not condone any act of indiscipline, he encouraged the personel to be diligent in their duties,commandant said.
He said his mission is to revamp all critical amenities in Edo,hence the need for the corps to live up to expectation in ensuring adequate protection of all critical National Assets.
He emphasized our core mandates and advised officers to always be on their duty post.
Commandant Agun said there will be staff audit ,he used the opportunity to advise those who are on AWOL to have a rethink,for his administration will not tolerate indiscipline, those found wanting will be shown the way out.
Commandant Agun Gbenga, a native of EKITI,holds his first degree in geography and master in geographical information system from the University of lagos UNILAG.
In a related development, commandant Agun Gbenga held a maiden meeting with heads of beats,he solicited their support and cooperation to achieve the desired result of tackling security challenges in the state as well as to ensure the protection of lives and property and safeguard all critical National Assets and Infrastructure of government.
He also warned heads of beats against absenteeism from their duty post, and they should always synergies with other security Agencies for no one person knows it all.
He challenged the heads of beats to wake up to their responsibility and deliver tangible results for the corps .
Following the commandant’s address, the floor was opened for questions and clarifications.
The meeting was concluded with a renewed sense of commitment and purpose among the heads of beats determined to work together under commandant AGUN GBENGA ‘S leadership to strengthen security and safeguard the well-being of Edo state.
