The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command, on Friday, decorated 640 promoted officers in the command.

The decoration ceremony which took place at the state command’s cooperative building in Owu Dekudu village off Kobape road in Abeokuta was attended by state service commanders, family members of the promoted officers, and well-wishers.

The promoted officers included four Deputy Commandants of Corps; 20 Assistant Commandants of Corps; 35 Chief Superintendents of Corps; 62 Superintendents of Corps; 123 Deputy Superintendents of Corps; 302 Assistant Superintendents of Corps I; and 94 Assistant Superintendents of Corps.

The state commandant, David Ojelabi, described the promotion as an award of excellence, dedication, hard work, loyalty and discipline.

He charged the newly-promoted officers to continue to maintain the greatest standards of professionalism, integrity, and national service.

Ojelabi said ”we want to congratulate all the newly promoted officers who have been promoted to the next professional status of their career.
“To whom much is given much more is expected. This is a call to rise to service and we need more from them, especially in the area of executing and maintenance of law and order. They should rise to their responsibilities and challenges.

“A new elevation translates to a new responsibility on their shoulders. You are all expected to be on your toes to perform and synergize with other agencies to see that Ogun state and Nigeria as a whole is peaceful for everybody.”

While extending his sincere congratulations to the officers, Special Adviser on Security to Governor Abiodun, AIG Olusola Subair (rtd.), noted that their promotion was a well-deserved accolade and a reflection of devotion, hard work, and commitment to the values of the NSCDC.

He, however, urged the promoted officers to step up their efforts to fight crime and improve public safety in the state.

Sodiq Owolabi, a former Chief Security of the Corps who was promoted to Assistant Commandant, thanked the leadership of the security operatives for the honour and urged his other colleagues to see their elevation as a catalyst to be more diligent in serving Nigeria with greater responsibility.
