Nigerian Army Dismisses Commander Over Adamawa HQ Invasion

Brig-Gen. Mohammed Gambo of the 23 Armored Brigade, Yola, has been relieved of his duty due to the midnight assault on Adamawa Police headquarters.
A dozen heavily armed soldiers, mobilized by the former commander last month, led to casualties, prompting Gambo’s removal.
Brig-Gen. Paul Zawaya from Michika Local Council has assumed the leadership of the command. Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, at the Government House in Yola, encouraged Zawaya to intensify efforts in curbing crime. Expressing concern over the invasion, Fintiri urged collaboration with security agencies to combat kidnapping and criminal activities in Adamawa.

Governor Fintiri pledged ongoing support for security initiatives, aiming for a crime-free state. Zawaya, in response, assured the governor of his commitment to maintaining state-wide security.
