NSCDC Set To Deploy Personnel To Check Unlawful Activities At Jigawa’s Borders

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has concluded plans to send personnel to border communities in Jigawa State to combat criminal activity.

According to a statement issued by the NSCDC Spokesperson in Jigawa, DSC Adamu Shehu, the Commandant, Muhammad Danjuma, disclosed this when receiving retired AVM Haruna Umar, the North-West Zonal Coordinator, National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons, who paid a courtesy visit.

When thanking the team leader and delegates from the Centre for their visit, the NSCDC Commandant pledged his unwavering support for the success of the campaign against the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in the country.

He also stated his desire to deploy soldiers to patrol the borders in order to prevent the smuggling of dangerous weapons that could jeopardize the state’s and the nation’s relative peace.

Earlier, Umar said the purpose of the visit was to request the Corps’ ongoing cooperation and collaboration in the Centre’s efforts to rid the country of the threat of proliferation of small and light weapons.

He also praised the NSCDC for its vital role as a key partner in national security.
