In view of the increase in attacks in some parts of Plateau state early in the year, the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps; Comd’t Alexander Bissa Barunde had earlier in the year; in total compliance to the directive of the Commandant General, NSCDC; Ahmed Abubakar Audi Ph.D, mni, OFR deployed a detachment of the Agro-Rangers Unit of the Corps to Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, Mangu and Riyom Local Government Areas of the state.

The personnel who were at that time warned to adhere strictly to professionalism and the best ethical standards while providing adequate security for both farmers and herders and maintain peace amongst both have been adjudged to have done remarkably well.

The Rangers maintained a 24hrs surveillance of their areas of operations and provided credible intelligence information that have aided other operations in the state.

This efforts of the personnel have helped in no small measure in boosting the activities of the Agro Services Training Centre and Marketing Limited (ASTC) a subsidiary of Plateau State Government and other Agro allied activities within the state.

Commandant Barunde while commanding the personnel encouraged them to see the operation as their statutory duty and service to humanity as personnel of the Corps charged with such responsibility among other core mandates.

He charged the troop to be vanguard of the corps and watch dogs of peaceful coexistence within their locations and the state at large.

It will recalled that sometime in June this year, there was a renewed aggression and attacks on residents of several communities within the aforementioned Local Government Areas, these have reduced drastically due to the proactive measures put in place by the Corps and other agencies.

Barunde commended the high level of coordination, collaboration and cooperation among the security agencies in Plateau State which he described as yielding positive results.
