The Police authorities in Adamawa State have confirmed the arrest 45 suspects for their alleged involvement in the vandalism of warehouses in search of palliatives in Yola, the State capital, on Sunday.

The Police also recovered some of the looted items from the suspects.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Yahaya, confirmed the arrest.

SP Yahaya said all the suspects have been detained at the State Police headquarters in Yola.

He noted that a combined patrol team of Army, Police and other security agencies stepped in to prevent further breakdown of law and order.

Meanwhile, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) head of operations in the State, Ladan Ayuba, has confirmed that all the four warehouses belonging to the agency, along Numan Road, have been vandalized by the hoodlums.

“All the four warehouses belonging to NEMA in the state have been vandalized.

“This is high level of criminality, where food and non-food items were carted away,” Ayuba stated.

He explained that the recently renovated NEMA office was also attacked by the miscreants and many official documents got missing during the invasion of the office.

The State government had earlier declared a 24-hour curfew to restore law and order across the state.

Markets and shops have been closed down in compliance with the order even as people were seen trekking to their various destinations on the streets.
