BASE STATION ATTACK AND AGRO INPUT THEFT: EKITI NSCDC PARADES FIVE CRIMINAL SUSPECTS

 

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Ekiti State Command Ado Ekiti has paraded five persons in connection with a base station attack and agro inputs theft in Ado Ekiti and Emure EKiti in the Command’s headquarters along Ikere/Ado Road, Ekiti State.

The Base Station  which is located along Ado/Iworoko road was attacked last night by some hoodlums numbering about seven, with guns and other dangerous weapon. They killed a night guard attached to a nearby residential quarter when the deceased prevented them from gaining entrance into the Base Station.

There was report that the hoodlums fired at the deceased and later accessed the Base Station, carting away heavy duty batteries powering the  station.  The people residing along the axis raised an alarm that prompted the Operatives of the Command to respond quickly so as to douse the tension and bring it under control.

The Command’s operatives later discovered that a night guard has been killed and  a suspect was arrested in connection with the crime while other members of the group fled the scene. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects, and recover other stolen items from them.

The suspect, Kenneth Mbanefo,  Male ,45years has been assisting the Command in her investigation that can lead to the arrest of the fleeing members of the group , while efforts are ongoing to treat him as a result of injuries inflicted on him by the Youths. 

In another development, four persons were paraded in connection with agro-inputs theft running to millions of naira at a farm settlement in Emure EKiti.

The suspects, Jimoh Jumoke, female, 50years; Obafemi Eunice, female, 52 years, Samuel Daniel, male, 39 years and Amos Adekunle, male 38 years were arrested with suspected stolen fertilizers, Agro chemicals and other materials by officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps attached to the Local Government.

The owner of the input showed up in the Command’s office and complained that the suspects had been stealing his agro inputs since last year making it difficult for him to continue with his farming business  at Adeboye farm in Emure EKiti.

The suspects will be charged to court within shortest possible time at the conclusion of preliminary investigations on them.
