ROLE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES CARDINAL TO SECURITY – KOGI NSCDC COMMANDANT

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kogi State command has joined others to commemorate the International Civil Defence Day (ICDO).

It is to honour the work of national services tasked with combating disaster and raising awareness of necessity, precautionary measures and self defence in the event of accidents or disasters.

Nigeria is the 42nd member nation in the ICDO. It is important to state that the NSCDC has been playing its role in disaster management. The roles include flood management, oil spillage control, tremour sensitization, etc.
This year would not be an exception if the need arises. The theme for 2023 is tagged :The Role of Information Technology In Risk Assessment. Upon the directives of the Commandant General Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi to celebrate the day at the State Command.
Commandant Gandi led other officers and men of the Command to embark on Route Match across a part of Lokoja to further sensitize the community on what the NSCDC stands for.

There were also some displays from men of Anti vandal, Female Squad, Agro Rangers to commemorate the celebrations and awareness of the importance of ICDO.

Addressing the personnel and gentlemen of the press thereafter, the State Commandant charged the officers and men to be very efficient and effective with display of professionalism in line with best practices as obtained in other climes. He stressed the need for training and retraining of personnels to be Information Technology compliant now that we are in the trend of technological advancement which is in line with the theme for this year’s celebration as directed by the Commandant General.
