Two people lost their lives, while 17 others sustained various degrees of injuries in a motor accident along the Kiyawa-Jahun road in Jigawa State.

The spokesperson of the NSCDC, CSC Adamu Shehu has confirmed the incident to newsmen.

He revealed that the incident occurred on Thursday, at about 0600hrs, and it involved a Toyota bus with Reg No. MGM435XA transporting passengers to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

He revealed that the incident happened around Katika village when the vehicle collided with a tree by the roadside as a result of overspeeding.

The victims of accident were immediately moved away from the scene and hospitalized to a PHC Center in Kiyawa LGA, and two people were confirmed dead while others were injured.

The deceased victims include Moh’d Atiku and Cecilia Peter, and those who sustained injuries among the passengers were transferred to FMC Azare, Bauchi State.

The command has advised motorists to always drive safely and do away with overspeeding and violations of road traffic.
