NSCDC PERFORMS GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY OF 550 HOUSING SCHEME, CG RESTATES COMMITMENT TO WELFARE OF PERSONNEL

In a bid to further enhance the productivity, operational efficiency and address the housing need of officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the agency has performed ground breaking ceremony of 550 housing scheme in Sokoto State for its personnel.

The project located at Milgoma, along the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, according to the Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, mni is part of his administration’s determination and commitment to ensure tremendous improvement in the welfare of personnel of which housing forms part of it.

Represented by the Deputy Commandant General, Administration, Zakari Ibrahim Ningi, fdc, the Commandant General in an address delivered at the ceremony said “what we are witnessing is in furtherance of my vision to prioritise the welfare of officers and men of the Corps.”

It also forms part of my vision to address the housing deficit in the Corps by making house ownership more accessible and affordable to personnel of the Corps with an easy and convenient payment plan, Audi explained.

Further, the NSCDC helmsman reiterated “leadership and administration of the Corps under my watch has put in place an integrated development plans/programmes towards addressing the housing needs of staff across board.”

Continuing, he maintained, “this is a phased project which will be replicated in all State Commands and the Federal Capital Territory in our deliberate attempt to further enhance productivity and operational efficiency. In an attempt to bring this vision to fruition, the Corps has engaged Messrs. Tunkey Projects Limited, a reputable developer and project consultants for the construction of 550 Housing Units to ameliorate the housing challenge being faced by officers and men of the Sokoto State Command.”

He expressed optimism that when completed, the project will be an additional boost to the morale of staff to deliver on the Corps mandate.

The Commandant General appreciated all the supports of Sokoto State government under 

His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR (Matawallen Sokoto), Executive Governor, who graciously allocated 31.070 Hectares of land at Milgoma Community in Bodinga, Local Government for the project. 

In furtherance, he thanked the Governor who also waived the payment of compensation on the land in excess of N1 billion to facilitate the development of the laudable project and constantly supporting activities and operations of security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the State.

Consequently, the CG assured that NSCDC will continue to support lofty programmes and efforts  government to keep the state safe and secured, reiterating the Corps’ commitment to the enhancement of peace and security to engender socio-economic development of Nigeria.

Also, he restated commitment to continue with effective synergy with the Military, Police and other sister agencies to bring to an end, the spate of insecurity occasioned by the nefarious activities of terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, insurgents, farmers/herders clashes, ethno-religious crises among others. 

On his part, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who officially performed the ground breaking ceremony commended the Corps for its role among security agencies confronting insecurity in the state.

Governor Tambuwal pledged his support and collaboration with the NSCDC to enable it succeed in it’s duties.

He expressed optimism that locating the housing Estate in the area will not only translate to security of the place, but also boost the economy of the place due to the presence of NSCDC personnel.

The Governor also promised to assist in the completion of the Permanent site of the command headquarters through procurement of state of the art security equipment and furniture to make it habitable for personnel.
