Three suspected high tension wire vandals have been arrested by the Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).
Among the suspects involved in the vandalization of high tension electricity cables along Sabongida-Bugaje Road, in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State is a 58-year-old Haris Ishaq and two others.
The command’s spokesman, DSC Mohammed Abdara, made the disclosure while parading the suspect during a news conference on Tuesday in Katsina.
Abdara said the command’s anti-vandalism team who were on a routine patrol exercise in the area arrested the suspects who confessed to having sold some of the vandalised cables.
“This breakthrough came as a result of our resolve to fight all forms of crimes and criminalities in the state.
Haris Ishaq, a native of Yangero village, in Jibia Local Government Area, had since confessed to having committed the crime, Abdara said.
He disclosed the identity of the two other suspects arrested along with Haris as Auwal Hamisu 28, and Ibrahim Sabi 35.
While Sabi a resident of Sabongida Quarters, aided the lead suspect to commit the crime, Hamisu, a resident of Yarnmawa Quarters in Katsina metropolis bought 30kg of the cables at the cost of N9500, Abdara disclosed.
According to the NSCDC spokesman, the investigation on the matter has been concluded and the suspect would be prosecuted soon.
Abdara said the NSCDC command is committed to collaborating with other security agencies to fight crime and insecurity in the state, urging members of the public to assist security agencies with reliable intelligence to enable them perform effectively.
