Insecurity: Zamfara govt sacks 2 Emirs, District Head

The Zamfara State Government on Wednesday sacked the Emirs of Zurmi and Dansadau, Atiku Abubakar and Hussaini Umar respectively, following their indictment in banditry-related crimes.

This was contained in a statement issued by Governor Bello Matawalle’s spokesman, Zailani Bappa.

The statement said that the District Head of Birnin Tsaba, Sulaiman Ibrahim Danyabi was also relieved of his appointment.

The statement said the decision was taken at a council meeting chaired by the acting governor, Hassan Nasiha, as announced by the state commissioner of Information, Ibrahim Dosara, shortly after the council meeting.

It added that the Council upheld the recommendation of a six-man White paper committee set up by the Government to review the report of two separate committees earlier set up to investigate the involvement of the three traditional rulers in the activities of banditry in the state.

It recalled that the three impeached monarchs were earlier suspended by the state government, following wide allegations of serious involvement in the act of banditry in the state.

“The findings of the committees also revealed abuse of land act in their domain and the Government ordered the reversal to status quo involving the lands illegally allocated.’’
