Fuel Scarcity: NSCDC Nabs 10 Suspects in Gombe

Operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Gombe State Command has arrested ten persons for allegedly aiding artificial scarcity of petrol in the state.

They also intercepted one Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation- branded petrol tanker, two golf (station wagons), many drums of Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol), two buses and a tricycle.

The Commandant of the Command, Waziri Goni, said the suspects were nabbed during an operation between 1am and 4am while negotiating petrol products with marketers.

Goni unveiled that the manager of a filling station was caught depositing petroleum into the two golf vehicles, adding that “one vehicle was carrying 40 jerricans while the other was with four drums loaded with PMS.”

The Commandant added that his officers on March 14 arrested eight people with two buses carrying 101 jerricans and four drums of petrol at a filling station in Kwanam Kashere in Akko Local Government Area, stating that his men, on March 23, also apprehended one 42-year old Mohammed Maigari, an NNPC driver with vehicle number: DKU355XA at a filling station for allegedly diverting petrol product.
