Kwapre and Dabna villages in Garaha Ward in the Hong Local Government Area were currently ghost villages, as people fled to safer places.

The Adamawa State Police Command has said it has deployed anti-terrorism and anti-kidnapping squads to communities including the home town of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, which are reported to have been surrounded by the Boko Haram insurgents and bandits.

It was on Monday that residents of two villages, Kwapre and Dabna in the Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State abandoned their homes over the fear of attacks by terrorists and bandits ravaging parts of the state.

It was learnt that Kwapre and Dabna villages in Garaha Ward in the Hong Local Government Area were currently ghost villages, as people fled to safer places.

Kwapre, Dabna, Lar, Zah and other adjoining villages are in Garaha Ward, where the SGF, Mustapha, and the slain Nigerian Army Brigadier General, Dzarma Zurkusu hailed from.

A community leader in Garaha, Honorable Hyella, had told SaharaReporters that people fled Kwapre to escaped being trapped and kidnapped by bandits and the Boko Haram.

Reacting, the police spokesman in state, Sulaiman Nguroje, said the police command had deployed anti-terrorism and anti-kidnapping squads, as well as undercover agents to the area.

He noted that so far, there had been no report from the security operatives that the area had been attacked.

“The command received unverified information that people are fleeing from some villages as a result of alleged Boko Haram attacks.

“As security personnel, we do not play with any information that borders on insecurity.

“The command immediately deployed anti-terrorism squad and intelligence officers to the suspected areas and so far there has been no report of attack or people fleeing their villages,” Nguroje stated.
