NSCDC Apprehends Six For Vandalising Government Properties In Kano Schools

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested six suspects in connection with the vandalism and theft of public infrastructure across different locations in Kano State.

This was disclosed in a statement released on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi. According to him, five of the suspects were apprehended for allegedly looting facilities from Government Secondary School Unguwar Rimi and Government Secondary School Unguwa Uku, both located in Kumbotso and Tarauni Local Government Areas, respectively.

The suspects — Abdulbasi Usman (19), Yahaya Isa (20), Abubakar Sadiq Abdullahi (20), all from Unguwar Rimi in Kumbotso LGA, and Adamu Murtala (20) of Unguwa Uku, Tarauni LGA — were found in possession of stolen school items.

Recovered items include roofing sheets, iron rods, buckets, 20 three-seater cushion chairs, mats, seven window frames, two ceiling fans, and various teaching and learning materials.

In a separate case, the NSCDC also arrested 17-year-old Alasan Inusa from Gidan Tela in PRP Dambatta Local Government Area for allegedly vandalizing electricity infrastructure. The suspect reportedly stole equipment from electric poles, including six insulators and aluminum cables.

The NSCDC spokesperson confirmed that investigations into all the incidents had been concluded, and the suspects would be arraigned in court in the coming days.

The command reiterated its commitment to protecting public infrastructure and warned others against acts of vandalism, emphasizing that such crimes would not go unpunished.
