As the nation continues to witness brazen attacks and killings of innocent Nigerians, suspected kidnappers yesterday opened fire on Kogi State Commissioner for Environment, Adewale Omofaiye, and shot him in the leg.
According to sources the incident occurred around 5 pm on Sunday between Ikoyi and Iyara areas of the state as Omofaiye escaped being kidnapped, but not without a gunshot injury.
Three persons were said to be in the car when they were ambushed and attacked by the suspected kidnappers.
The commissioner is, however, said to be in stable condition.
Omofaiye was said to be on his way to Lokoja when his vehicle was attacked by the suspected kidnappers.
Sources disclosed that some motorists were kidnapped and taken to the bush during the attack.
