Breach of Peace: Gombe Govt cautions Senator Goje,  Politicians

By Kassim Omomia, Executive Editor

Gombe state Government has cautioned former Governor of the state and senator representing the states central senatorial District, Danjuma Goje that it was set to deal decisively with him in the event that he breaches the peace of the state
The state commissioner of Information and culture ,Julius Ishaya Lepes , who made Government  position known in a Press statement, condemned the breach of peace in the state capital,  caused by the visit of the Ex- Governor and current Senator representing  Gombe Central,  Sen. Muhammad Danjuma Goje. Lepes  stated that as Chief Security Officer of the state, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya  will not renege on his responsibilities to protect the lives and property of the citizenry.
The State government accused Senator Goje of often mobilizing armed thugs from different parts of the state  each time he was on a visit to the state
The government wondered  what reasons the Ex- Governor would  contemplate for  engaging in such unwarranted action, if the reasons are not known only to him
According to  the statement, “the  former Governor,  in his characteristic manner,  decided to mobilize thugs from various LGAs armed to their teeth under the pretext of accompanying him from the airport into the State capital for reasons best known to him.
The government recalled how during the last  Eid el-Kabir Sallah celebration,  Goje sponsored some thugs that threw caution into the wind, leading to  a rampage which resulted to the loss of 2 lives, and a similar scenario which played out last week at Deba in Yamaltu Deba LGA  at the instance of the Senator.
The government expressed sadness that the former governor still exhibits his old ways of doing things to the extent that there is suspicion that he wants to bring  back , a militia group, ( the Kalare) to unleash mayhem and return the state to its hellish days, in spite of the relative peace currently witnessed on Gombe

The government therefore warns the Senator, desperate politicians and their thugs, that the current administration under Governor Inuwa Yahaya was committed to the peace in the state and would not stand by and watch desperate  politicians unleash terror and violence on innocent citizens to the extent of getting people killed.
The government sympathised  with families of the five people killed and those who sustained various degrees of injuries, while commending the security agencies for their timely intervention in bringing the ugly situation under control.
It, however, assured  that perpetrators of the unfortunate act, no matter how highly placed will be brought to book.
