Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have launched a dawn attack on Bazir village in Chibok local government area of Borno State, killing two brothers.
Credible sources from Chibok said the terrorists also razed down a church and other residential house after looting food crops and livestock of the villagers without confrontation.
The sources added that the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday when the villagers were still asleep.
It could be recalled that terrorists on January 2 had attacked Njilang village in the same Chibok LGA and wreaked havoc after the displacement of the whole community who are currently taking refuge in safer locations.
One of the residents of Bazir village, who fled unhurt, Mr. James Ayuba, said it was by God’s grace that they escaped unhurt, but added that their houses were set ablaze completely after the terrorists had looted their farm produce.
”I am calling on the government and security agencies to take urgent action to address the renewed attacks in Southern Borno. Our people, especially those in Chibok, deserve to live in peace and safety, and it is the responsibility of the authorities to ensure that they are protected and secured,” he said.
Similarly, a human rights activist, who hails from Chibok, Mr Allamson Ayuba, condemned the attack and called on the government, and the Nigerian military to save the people of Chibok and environs from continued devastating attacks and destruction of lives and property of the people by terrorists.
As of the time of filing this report, no statement has been issued by either the Borno State government, military or other security agencies regarding the latest attack.
