The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, has said intelligence sharing amongst security agencies played a key role in the successes the nation has recorded in the fight against security challenges.

Audi praised Nigerians for sharing actionable intelligence information with security agencies, saying the gesture helped security operatives to achieve remarkable results.

Besides the fight against terrorism tactics of asymmetric warfare, kidnapping for ransom and banditry, the NSCDC boss acknowledged that intelligence information from Nigerians led to the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.

He said sharing intelligence with NSCDC helped the lead agency to fulfil its mandate of safe-guarding national assets and critical infrastructure.

Audi spoke through NSCDC’s Public Relations Officer Babawale Afolabi, a Corps Commandant, in a statement yesterday in Abuja.
“Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi has also appreciated well-meaning Nigerians who have partnered the corps to enhance its productivity and fulfilment of the statutory roles and responsibility.

“Dr. Audi noted that most of the achievements made by the corps and its operational successes hinged on credible intelligence and information volunteered by Nigerians who reposed confidence in the NSCDC as a world-class security outfit,” the statement said.

Audi also acknowledged the support and cooperation of all state’s commandants, zonal commandants, and the management team of the corps for the success it had recorded.

The NSCDC boss recalled that since his assumption of duty as the agency’s third substantive Commandant General, the corps had been repositioned and reinvigorated in the discharge of its statutory mandate, as enshrined in the establishment Act 2003, as amended in 2007.
