Yuletide: NSCDC deploys 2, 750 officers in Ogun

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun Command, has deployed 2,750 defenders to maintain security during Christmas.

Mrs Remilekun Ekundayo, the Commandant of the NSCDC, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abeokuta.

Ekundayo said the corps would be on a -24 hour patrol.

She said the corps would place surveillance on residents and properties.

“The corps are tasked to ensure the residents abide by the law of the land during the yuletide.

“They must also put surveillance on all government critical infrastructure among others.

“All public places such as praying grounds, market places, recreation centres, electricity cables and assets, black spots and other places with high human population and activities would be guarded,” she said.

According to her, the tactical teams deployed are the Counter-Terrorism Unit, the Special Female Squad , Special Armed Squad; and Anti-Vandal Squad.

“Other teams include Mines and Steel Monitoring Squad; the Disaster and Rescue Management Unit, amongst others, for a peaceful celebration in the state,” she said.

Ekundayo said the corps would not hesitate to arrest anyone suspected to be undermining the peaceful coexistence in Ogun.
