The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ebonyi State Command, Nnadi Francis Chika says the Corps owes Nigerians duty to protect them. He made this declaration while playing host to the management of National Identity Management Commission, Ebonyi State office during a courtesy visit in his office.

He assured them that NSCDC ‘s core mandate of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure protection made it imperative to provide security for them.

He was responding to the positive remarks by the NIMC State Coordinator Philips Okeke to the effect that NSCDC personnel deployed to their Abakaliki office have so far acquitted themselves creditably.

Commandant Nnadi noted that the two agencies play complementary roles in providing national security as primary data provided by NIMC would aid security agencies to discharge their duties efficiently.

He reiterated that the Corps’ commitment to its civic duties was grassroots oriented and reassured him of 24 hours surveillance over their assetes

” No country survives without a synchronized data base”, he said, adding that this would aid anti drug agencies and population commission to provide security as obtained in the civilized world.

He further declared “operation show your NIN” at the State Command as his way of demonstrating his support for the Agency. According to Commandant Nnadi, every officer of the State Command is mandated to register for the national identity along with all members of his/her family. He also charged them to take advantage of the weekly in-house training exercise at the state command to reach out to all the the staff with the mandate of NIMC

Earlier, the coordinator had expressed his appreciation to the State Commandant for availing his office with personnel to complement their local guards to secure their offices. He asserted that the boys have done well.

Mr Philips Okeke said they came to consolidate on the already existing working relationship between the two agencies of the federal government.

He revealed that the NIMC has concluded arrangements to float a General Multi-Purpose Card that would embody primary identity and financial data of Nigerians next year.
