NSCDC burst illegal refinery in Port Harcourt residence, confiscate property

Operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, have busted a resident in Port Harcourt where oil thieves refine their stolen petroleum products.

NSCDC operatives discovered the residence within Elelewo Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The State Commandant of NSCDC, Joachim Okafor, yesterday led a team of officers to the premises where the illegal activities take place.

Okafor revealed that the discovery was made possible following the commitment of the command in the fight against oil theft.

His property has been seized as an exhibit, adding that the yard would be forfeited to the Federal Government after a thorough investigation.

The NSCDC commandant further emphasized that the activities of the illegal crude oil business in the area were causing serious environmental hazards and health issues for the people of the area.

He further appealed to the people of the state to always give useful information to the command about where illegal refining of crude oil was taking place.
