The Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency Sen Uba Sani, has expressed his deep appreciation for the significant role played by 1 Division Nigerian Army in bolstering security within the State and its environs. The Governor made this remark during the 1 Division West African Social Activities (WASA) held at 2 Battalion Parade Ground in Ribadu Cantonment Kaduna on 14 December 2024.
The Governor who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Professor James Kanyip, lauded the troops’ unwavering commitment and courage in confronting various security challenges in the state. In his words “your collaborative efforts with other security agencies through Operation FANSAN YAMMA has significantly contributed to peace and stability in the state.He assured the GOC of the state government’s continued support and urged the troops to remain steadfast in their efforts.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Chief Host and General Officer Commanding 1 Division/ Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso, highlighted the Division’s ongoing operations against insurgents in both Niger and Kaduna States. He emphasized the Division’s commitments and dedication to maintaining operational momentum in effectively addressing emerging security threats.
General Saraso expressed gratitude to other security agencies for their collaborative efforts in curbing criminal activities in the State and also acknowledged the support and guidance provided by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, in enhancing professionalism and regimentation in the Nigerian Army.
He used the occasion to recognized the exceptional performance of soldiers that distinguished themselves among their peers during the operational and training year 2024 and charged them not to rest on their oars.
The event featured cultural displays from different cultural troupes across the country showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the barracks, tug of war contest between serving corps members and magajiyas (soldiers wives), presentation gifts and awards to deserving soldiers, comedy, beating of the retreat as well as lighting of bonfire all aimed at fostering camaraderie among the troops, their families and fostering of civil – military relations with sister security agencies and the civil populace.
