NSCDC Arrests 11 Over Banditry, Cattle Rustling…Detains 30-Year-Old For Sodomy In Jigawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Sokoto State Command, Monday, said it had arrested no fewer than 11 suspects over banditry and cattle rustling in the state.

Mr Muhammad Dada, the NSCDC Commandant, Sokoto command, gave the figures while addressing newsmen in Sokoto.

Dada said that the suspects were apprehended in conjunction with the vigilante group of Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto.

“This development led us to the arrest of seven suspected cattle rustlers identified to belong to a team of bandits terrorising Tureta, Dange/Shuni and Rabah axis of the state.

“Among the suspects is Alti Shehu, 25, who was arrested some years back by the command, prosecuted in court and sentenced to a term in prison.

“Others are: Buba Bello, Abdullahi Hassan, Sani Duna, Abu Gidado, Shehu Modibo, Ibrahim Modi, Muhammadu Aminu, Buba Garba, Umar Sanda and Nura Bello

“Forty-four rustled cows were recovered from the suspects and are presently secured in the custody of Wurno council,” he said. 

Also in Dutse, Jigawa state capital, operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State are currently investigating one Abdullahi Suleiman of suspected case of sodomy.

Suleiman, 30, aka Messi, of Maranjuwa Quarters, Dutse, was arrested on September 29 suspected of sodomy with an 11-year-old boy.

It was learnt that the suspect used to invite the boy into his house whenever his wife was not around.

The spokesman of the command, Adamu Shehu, said, “The illicit affair was uncovered when the boy’s school principal observed that the amount of money in his possession was too much for his spending and called the attention of his parents. 

“According to him, he engaged the 11-year-old thrice. But the boy stated the sodomy was more than three times as the suspect engaged him in different places and in turn gave him money, milk, candy, biscuits and wristwatch among others.”

Shehu added that a medical report obtained from the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) at General Hospital, Dutse showed bruises on the rectum and loose sphincter, which indicated repeated anal penetration. 

He said the suspect had admitted to the crime and would be charged to court.
