NACOLM INAUGURATES JUNIOR LEADERSHIP AND STAFF OFFICERS’ COURSE 3/2024

The Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), under the leadership of its Commandant, Major General Wisdom Etuk, inaugurated the Junior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (JLSOC) 3 of 2024 comprising student officers from various Corps and Services on 4 November 2024. The ceremony took place at the Tukur Yusuf Buratai Hall, NACOLM permanent site Ojo, Lagos.

Major General Etuk, who served as both the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH) and Guest Lecturer for the occasion, welcomed guests and expressed his pleasure at their participation. Delivering the inaugural lecture titled: “The Making of an Effective Leader and Staff Officer for Joint Operating Environment”, the SGOH discussed Some Attributes of Tactical Level Officers, JLSOC Contributions to the Development of Tactical Level Officers and Field Observations on Staff Trained Tactical Level Officers.

Earlier in his address, the SGOH highlighted that NACOLM was initially established in December 2002 with a primary focus on training logisticians. However, with the expansion to include leadership and staff officer courses, the College’s mandate changed to producing efficient Logisticians and staff-trained officers with requisite leadership skills who are capable of effectively discharging their duties in both joint and combined operations at formations and higher levels using contemporary management concepts and techniques. This updated mandate equips officers with the management skills necessary to excel in modern military environments.

The Commandant noted that the JLSOC course will span approximately 23 weeks and urged students to value time as a critical resource, emphasizing efficient planning and management throughout their stay at the College. He further encouraged the officers to foster cooperation, engage in intellectual dialogue and be vigilant against plagiarism.
