Effort by Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant-General,  Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps to halt corrupt practices within the para military agency has certainly incurred the wrath of some NSCDC contractors who have resorted to threatening his life via phone calls, text messages and voice recorded messages. The embittered contractors are hell bent in sustaining the old order of ‘’business as usual’’ which had triggered negative impact, especially on the finances and efficient administration of the Corps in the recent past.

The embittered contractors are not alone in their resistance mission,  highly placed sources revealed that they are discreetly working in connivance with some inside forces.

Authoritative sources revealed how Audi has been having a running battle with agents of corruption at NSCDC on account of his fierce battle against corruption and unethical professional  conducts, especially as it bothers on the looting of the Corps’s treasury, phantom and abandoned contracts scam. ‘’He’s become a thorn in the flesh of corrupt contractors and their allies since he assumed duties at NSCDC. And this explains why they have embarked on all manner of clandestine moves to get him maligned or removed as NSCDC boss.’’ highly dependable source disclosed.

Recent independent investigation revealed how a prominent contractor to the Corps had in connivance with another business partner approached Dr. Audi with sole purpose of luring him into distorting financial system and fiscal policy of the Corps for their selfish gains. Specifically, they had wanted the Commandant-General to convert capital vote of the Corps to interventionist funds so as to pave way for them to corner chunk of the contracts under interventionist programme at the expense of the well-being of the generality of the Corps. This plot, sources confided in us was vehemently turned down by Dr. Audi who told the contractors that that the Corps would not deviate from the financial rules of the government, and that nothing could be done as far as interventionist programme is concerned unless funds are released for such purposes by the Ministry of Finance.  Audi’s refusal to succumb to the contractors’s  pressure was  perceived as a cardinal sin against him, and ever since they have been going about not only blackmailing him, but also engaged in massive sponsorship of anti-media campaign and sponsored protests against Audi’s policies at NSCDC.

All efforts to speak to Dr. Audi could not yield results.
